Bill Monroe and the Mandolin

Bill Monroe is the King of Bluegrass, and the premier Bluegrass mandolinist. No evidence exists to support claims that Monroe ever played fiddle. His use of a Gibson Lloyd Loar starting in 1943 helped him popularize and develop Bluegrass music.

Winter Bluegrass Festivals: Different from the Summer Mega Festivals

The River City Music Festival is a great Pacific Northwest bluegrass festival. Although advertising was not extremely heavy, and some big named artists did not draw the crowds they might have gotten with a better advertising merchandise. The best advertised of the artists had shows that were tights, well played and packed. Reaching the artists after their sets, was nearly painless and they all seemed happy to meet and greet fans.
